About Martha

Martha Murray O’Connor is President of Alluring Events, a full service event planning and management company located in Southern Maine.

After receiving her B.S.W from Castleton State College, she chose to explore a career in Corporate Event Planning. Martha has been trained and certified by the Wedding Planning Institute, the industry leader in providing training and education to wedding professionals.

Martha has successfully planned and managed events for large corporations such as Gartner, IBM and Microsoft, has set-up conferences, meetings and trainings for The Partnership for Strong Communities, The Melville Charitable Trust and the United Way to name a few, as well as planning weddings, commitment ceremonies, bridal and baby showers, birthday parties and holiday gatherings for groups ranging in size from 20 people to 10,000 people.

While working as an Event Planner for Gartner Worldwide Events, Martha traveled extensively both nationally and internationally, planning and managing events for high level executives and gaining a strong foundation and understanding of the Events business.

After advancing her responsibilities in the corporate events arena for 8 years, Martha decided to make a transition to the non-profit world, and helped the Melville Charitable Trust open The Lyceum Resource and Conference Center in Hartford, CT.  As the Conference Center Manager, Martha had the pleasure of helping to develop programming, manage the events and work one-on-one with those using the Conference Center.

Once The Lyceum was fully operational, Martha relocated to Coastal Maine where she had vacationed for over 25 years and had always dreamed of living.

It was after planning her own wedding and weddings of friends and family members, that Martha chose to return to her true passion and area of expertise; planning events!  In 2007, Martha and her husband created Alluring Events.

After obtaining her Real Estate License, she successfully managed the operations of her family's business, All Points, Realtors in Scarborough, Maine, while simultaneously selling over 5 million dollars of residential real estate.

Martha is a naturally focused and determined self-starter who invariably grasps the intent and direction of an event from the outset.  She is extremely resourceful, creative, and conscientious; displaying a professional and highly positive attitude at all times. Martha is calm in a crisis and has proven over the years to be an exceptional and proactive problem solver. Martha loves what she does and manages events with a sense of grace, humor and exemplary project management skills.

Martha lives in coastal Maine with her loving husband, step-son and devoted canine companions.
